Notes on the Final Period of Power

Sunday, October 20, 2024 marks the end of an era of power for Indonesia's highest ruler. On this day, Indonesia's new ruler will officially begin the work of national leadership for the next five-year period (October 20, 2029). Broken things grow, lost things change. Such is the philosophy of life─every broken thing must grow and every lost thing must change. This means that there is no lasting power - no eternal power

Power will eventually come to an end-definitely go away. Don't ever doubt that. Since power is impermanent and temporary, do not take possession of it and feel comfortable with it. A wise man with a statesman mentality will look different from a power-hungry man without a statesman mentality. A statesman will always put the interests of the country above all else. In his head, there is only the benefit of the nation and state and nothing else.

All his actions truly reflect the interests of the republic, upholding the constitution, upholding political ethics, keeping democracy alive from the threat of decline and decay. So that everything that has the potential to disrupt, let alone damage the constitution, political ethics of the state, democratic values, he will definitely fight by starting from himself first. He never tells lies, let alone intervenes just to smooth out his desires and wishes. Then what about the man without statesmanship? The answer is of course the opposite of the proposition above. Power, which certainly has a validity period, actually makes humans self-aware that no matter how popular and cool they are, in time the power will disappear, in time it will be finished. With the loss of power, all the privileges attached to it are also lost. He is no longer authorized to make strategic decisions, he can no longer order the people to follow what he wants, and of course he can no longer influence the public by using state power facilities.

That's how life is, it's like a cog in a wheel that keeps spinning endlessly. Some days man is in power, some days he is without power. So once again, no one should be lulled by power let alone get drunk with it. Power is only temporary, make power a medium to serve, truly carry out the mandate of the basic law without cheating or destroying it. Prove to the people that the interests and safety of the nation are above the interests of self, family, and group. Remember, anyone who is in power and then his power ends he will be remembered according to what he has shown during his time in power.

Rulers who prove to be statesmen will forever be remembered as statesmen. A ruler who is proven to be playing with the fire of power, inconsistent with the constitution, prone to lying and not committed to the political promises that have been made, then after his power is gone, he will be remembered as he has done.
